This week the Canadian Toy Testing Council announced that they are closing shop after 60 years of toy testing by Canadian kids and families. I am not a fan of whisky or hard liquor generally. At least that is what I have been telling myself and others for years. The odd thing is that it is kind of a lie. This week I was provided a ticket an #IHeartRye event hosted by Canadian Club at the Social Restaurant and Lounge in Ottawa. It was an evening of food and whisky tasting. Ottawa Winter Brewfest 2015
Last night I went out of the house without my wife or any children. This morning I feel like a teenage boy starting puberty.
I had the opportunity to go to the first night of the Winter Brewfest in Ottawa last night and while I was there I may have sampled one or two local craft beers. Of course I carefully swirled the beer to release the flavours and aromas before delicately sipping the sample of each beer. Ice cream is a magical thing. It is tied up with so many of my travel and summer memories. When i was a kid we used to go to Dairy Queen to get chocolate dipped cones as a treat. i think often after soccer practices or games, but I am not sure. I don’t remember the context so well, but I do remember the ice cream and can even picture the Dairy Queen. To this day I still buy dipped cones when we go to Dairy Queen. Last week I had the good fortune to win tickets from Capital Parent Newspaper to the Originals Ottawa Christmas Craft Show. I’ve never been to this craft show before and frankly cannot claim to have been to many craft shows in my life. I didn’t really know they existed. Most of my shopping is restricted to the essentials since we don’t have much in the way of disposable income (the kids keep eating it!).
