Well, not quite yet, but soon. We officially have seven weeks to go until the due date. The last kid was three weeks early so really we could be in the final four weeks. That means it is time to get the show on the road and start putting together the baby’s room. The death of a pet
We have had Merlin, our orange tabby, ever since we got married 12 years ago. He was the runt of the litter and turned into a 15lb big cat. He wasn’t a fat cat, but he was long and definitely bigger than our calico cat. He survived a fall from our fifth floor balcony and spent the night curled up inside the engine of our property manager’s van to keep warm. He travelled with us through four moves and put up with two children and today we had to put him down. [Read more…]
The glory of trees
When we moved into our house almost four year ago we had a big beautiful tree in our backyard – about eighty feet tall and another tree in front of the house along the edge of the road. We lost the tree in the backyard in our first summer. It was a Manitoba Maple tree and one quiet sunny morning a large branch decided it was time to move out on its own and it escaped from the rest of the tree. In the process it took out the power line in backyard and pulled the line out of the transformer a couple of houses over, which meant everyone in our block lost power.
